USING YOUR ACCOUNT
Name Servers
Sound Resound can register or transfer your domain name for only $9.50
per year! However, if you prefer to use or stick with a different registrar,
then you'll need to set the name servers for your domain to:
ns1.soundresound.com
ns2.soundresound.com
Your account will not be available until you have properly configured
your domain with your registrar.
Domain Control Panel Access:
Your Plesk domain control panel allows you to configure your account
- from setting up email addresses to configuring your databases. It is
important to familiarize yourself with your control panel before contacting
support.
You can access your Plesk domain control panel via
https://www.soundresound.com:8443
Your username and password should have been sent to you via email. If
not, contact support@soundresound.com for assistance.
FTP Access (File Uploading):
In order to upload files (e.g. web pages) to your account, you must use
FTP. Most popular HTML editors such as Frontpage and Dreamweaver are FTP-enabled,
and other clients like SmartFTP or CuteFTP may be used. Simply connect
to:
ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com
using the FTP credentials assigned to your account. Contact support@soundresound.com
if you do not know your FTP login/password. Alternatively, you can configure
your FTP settings via your domain control panel.
All files that you will serve over the web must go in httpdocs directory.
All CGI programs should be installed to cgi-bin.
Email:
NOTE: Due to the ever-increasing problem of SPAM, many internet service
providers (ISPs) are now blocking SMTP (Port 25) which is required to
send mail from your mail client through our server. We recommend that
you instead use the mail server provided by your ISP. Contact your ISP
for more information.
Sound Resound is proud to offer both POP3 (incoming) and SMTP (outgoing)
services to our customers. In your mail program (such as Outlook Express),
specify:
mail.yourdomain.com
where yourdomain.com is your domain name, for both incoming and outgoing
mail servers. Then for the POP3 account name and password, provide the
mailbox name as your username, and the password for that mailbox.
Note: you must also use authentication for SMTP (outgoing) email. Use
the same account name and password as you provided during POP3 (incoming)
email setup.

COMMON PROBLEMS AND RESOLUTIONS
"My website is down!"
1. Do you get an error from the server itself, such as "Authorization
Required" or "Page Not Found"? If so, then something you've
changed on your site recently may have temporarily broken it, and you
should try to resolve the issue yourself. Any response back from the server
indicates that the server itself is probably functioning correctly (except
for MySQL errors - see below).
2. Is your internet connection working? Sounds funny, but is often the
case. Try browsing to several websites, as it is possible for you to lose
contact with portions of the Internet if there are problems "upstream"
of or at your ISP.
3. Are other sites at Sound Resound working? If you're viewing this site,
then the answer is yes! Did your domain name expire? Did you mistype your
domain name? It is very unlikely that one domain would be broken while
others continue working.
If your site along with Sound Resound seems to have simply disappeared,
then wait at least 20 minutes before contacting support. It is likely
that we will become aware of the problem quickly, if we're not already
on the case. Your best bet in this case is to try Instant Messenger, or
to page Boden Larson (see contact information above).
"I can't send Email!"
If you are using our server for outgoing mail, make sure that you've
configured your mail client (e.g. Outlook Express, Eudora) to use authentication
(e.g. username and password) for SMTP (outgoing mail). The credentials
are the same as you use for POP3 (incoming mail). Wow, that's a lot of
parenthesis!
"When I access my domain control panel, it says "Forbidden!"
Make sure that you use https (secure http):
https://www.soundresound.com:8443
"I just can't access my domain control panel no matter what!"
If you are behind a firewall such as Microsoft ISA Server, then it may
be blocking your requests. To access your domain control panel you have
to connect to port 8443 using HTTPS - contact your local network administrator.
